Saree Trend - Lakme fashion week summer resort 2017

Table of contents

Lakme fashion week 2017 wrapped up its summer/resort season's gala with the most creative designs, varying from traditional to western wear collection. The most noticeable significant things of this year's trends are the use of Organic fabrics such as cotton, Linen as the important materials.

The first two days runway collections had simple silhouettes, minimal prints and the use of neutral color. Traditional shapes had the mix of western influences.

For Sari's collection, Sailesh Singhani played with the blouse's silhouettes where arms had a ruffle and use of semi-transparent fabric to make it look sultry.
As much as gender fluidity reigned as the dominant theme of Lakme Fashion Week's Summer/Resort 2017, designers couldn't resist the occasional nod to the fabulous drape. Pre-constructed silhouettes were everywhere because -- let's be honest -- few urban millennials can claim mastery over the drape. By dictating the structure, designers were free to roll the dice with fabric choices.

Shweta Kapur's polyester metallic sari shone brightly at one end of the spectrum, while Sailesh Singhania stuck to hand-spun khadi with real gold zari.
Nupur Kanoi turned to Gujarat's famous bandhini technique on silk while Payal Singhal chose a sexier route with her sheer saris.

Sanjuka Dutta brings colorful joy taking care of India's Sari heritage. Colorful, tasseled sarees in a diverse colour palette with bottle greens, off-whites, bright reds, blacks, and metallics were the critical take on the runway during Sanjukta’s showcase. The Red and Black were the favourite shades of the designer.

Backless blouses and Lehenga skirts added to the festive vibe of the collection.

Designers such as Dev R. Nil, Kotwara and Gaurang chose to have simplicity into their traditional Sari Drape. Gaurang Shah brings muslin interspersed with gold details. The dupattas were draped across the voluminous silhouettes with cool nonchalance lending a majestic air to the whole affair.
