F-trend analysed over 2,287 looks from New York Fashion Week S/S 2027, and one trend stands out for its commercial staying power: it's building steadily, and it's one retailers and designers should have on their radar.

This trend was flagged early by our F-Predict platform and has since been confirmed by our Catwalk analytics.

Key Emerging Trend: Asymmetrical Feel-Good

This trend is all about subtle, wearable asymmetry — the kind that adds visual interest to everyday dresses without sacrificing comfort or ease. It's resonating with Millennials who want pieces that feel fresh and intentional, but still fit into daily life. Rather than a fleeting moment, it's building steadily, making it a key detail-driven story for SS27.

As a Product: Dresses that use one-shoulder necklines, angled hems, or off-center details to break up an otherwise simple silhouette.

Live Now: This trend gained consistent traction throughout 2026 as a way to make basic knits and dresses feel more considered and intentional.

Key Design Signals:

  • Off-center closures and button plackets
  • Diagonal and angled hemline cuts
  • One-shoulder necklines

What to Avoid: Without enough intentionality or design flair, this trend risks reading as too basic — the asymmetry needs to feel deliberate, not accidental.

Gaining Ground

The trend is expanding steadily: it appeared on 0.7% of garments (within the types it appears on) in Autumn/Winter 2026, and that share has grown to 1.6% this season — a gain of +0.9 points, in line with growth across the rest of this scope.

Within the garment types where it appears, it's present in 7 of the 448 looks shown this season. Across the market more broadly, it showed up in 5 of 28 collections.

Because Autumn/Winter 2026 and the current season sit in different phases of the fashion calendar, we also compared the trend against Spring/Summer 2026 — the same phase one year earlier — where it shows a +1.3 point gain.

Chart

A Cyclical Pattern

Looking back over the past two years reveals a clear seasonal rhythm. Year-over-year, the trend is up 1.6 points against Spring/Summer 2025 and 1.3 points against Spring/Summer 2026. Phase-to-phase, the picture shifts: it's down 0.2 points against Pre-Fall 2026, but up 0.9 points against Autumn/Winter 2026.

Taken together, the data points to a trend that's inherently cyclical. Asymmetrical Feel-Good remains a niche play overall, but one that has historically performed strongest in the Autumn/Winter season.
