So finally Adidas 3D technology shoes are availabe to sell in the retail. Adidas announced it will be making its 3D technology shoes available to purchase for the first time with a limited edition release. The 3D Runner will be available for $333 via Adidas Confirmed​​ in New York

So what is all about  

The Adidas 3D technology in shoes?- 

The shoe features an engineered 3D web structure with dense zones in high force areas and less dense zones in the low force areas, allowing for the optimum level of performance. The 3D Runner also features a 3D printed heel counter, which is integrated into the midsole and avoids the typical process of gluing or stitching.

So what is the benefits of the 3D technology in shoes?

The Benefits include greater elasticity, compliancy and support. A black PRIME KNIT upper ensures high style, superior fit and performance. This shoe is specially made for runners in mind.  

The first time Adidas's shoe was spotted during the Rio Olympic in August. It was only available to the  winner and the first one to receive was New Zealland's Women’s rugby player Tyla Nathan-Wong, who won silver. 

According to Mikal Peveto the senior director - “Creating customized shoes based on an individual’s footprint – including their running style, foot shape, performance needs and personal preferences – is a north star for the industry and Adidas is leading with cutting edge innovations.”

So what does this mean to normal consumer and shoe tech?

It's open the future for the customised shoe making with the exact size and fit based on foot shape, the lots of design variations and personal preferences taking care of the running style. We can expect the technology to be soon available to other manufacturers.   

A limited number of the shoes is made available on Dec. 15 in London and Tokyo apart from NYC

However Adidas started to working on these 3D technology based shoe from 2015, in october they have divulged there first 3D shoes with Futurecraft. a unique 3D-printed running shoe midsole which can be tailored to the cushioning needs of an individual’s foot. The 3D concept is part of the ‘Futurecraft series’, a forward-looking initiative that places open source collaboration and craftsmanship at the heart of design to drive innovation across all elements of production.

Futurecraft 3D is a prototype and a statement of intent. We have used a one-of-its-kind combination of process and material in an entirely new way. Our 3D-printed midsole not only allows us to make a great running shoe, but also to use performance data to drive truly bespoke experiences, meeting the needs of any athlete
