Ashish Soni was the only designer who's collection was men's only while designers like Rajesh Pratap Singh and Rohit Gandhi brought men's and women's collection together.

The men's collection ranged from ethnic wear to western wear style, and we witnessed some of the new silhouettes which are not commercially viable to India's context but they are very creative and catchy for the young consumer's looking to try something new.

The Key AIFW S/S17 Men's Trend

Key Items:- Men's Sherwani and kurta, Pyjama is the key item in traditional wear while suit coats and Pants being the key commercial viable item. The newest silhouette we witnessed .was men's skirt thats first time spotted at India's runway show.

Key Prints- Windows pane checks, sailor stripes, big and micro polka dots on formal jacket and Kurta is the key print trend we spotted at the show. Rajesh Pratap used window checks intelligently to make his collection look manly

Key Colors- Black being the core color of the men's collection while the colors ranged from grey to white. Ashish & Soni and Rajesh Pratap Singh made a case for monochrome dressing with power pant suits for both men. Avant Mood’, the name of his SS 17 line is best described as happy and fun with a focus on an interesting palette. From blacks, greys to whites there is a pop of colour added with salmon pinks, icy blues and refreshing peach into the Sahil Aneja's collection.

Key detailing- The speciallity of Rohit Gandhi's collection was his blazer which has special neckline cut, with the wrap around closing fastened with side zip. We loved the long kurta teamed up with boots and long jacket. Parkas, biker jackets and layered shirts, Sahil has introduced something he calls the ‘new tuxedo’. “We have developed crests that we put on patchwork pockets with the option of personalised initials engraved on them. Nothing is overpowering everything is rather subtle, more tone-on-tone,” he concludes.

Key Materials- Jacquard being the key material for the men's ethnic collection while linen is the key material for the men's blazer.
