At  Bungalow 8, the week ended with Maithili Ahluwalia hosting a stimulating dialogue between Gautam Vazirani and Chinar Farooqui on ‘Indian designers building global brands’.

Farooqui’s brand Injiri is retailed across 300 stores overseas. However, in India, it is aesthete & fashion curator Maithili who brought Injiri to Mumbai at Bungalow 8.

Known for having his finger on the fashion pulse, Gautam Vazirani explores the ideas of how brands that are truly Indian in its DNA are not only in vogue but also serve as a greater good towards the industry. "Chinar Farooqui is a classic case study in the sustainable fashion of someone who works with sustainability starting at the ideological level.
She has never had a business plan nor does she believe in creating a sales target before showcasing her collections at international trade shows. Her only objective is to be aligned to sustainability and looking at 'everything local' while creating her textiles" says Gautam.

The stunning hostess for the evening, Maithili concludes the rendezvous saying that "The success of Injiri is not so much about a brand that has clicked with the global cognoscenti, but an evolved market that is celebrating the quiet music of her fashion. Injiri is a voice that does not need amplification. It is best heard when one is ready for silence."
